A few weeks ago I was eye-balling my pantry, trying to decide what I could cook with my current ingredients. As usual, I turned to one of my all-time favorite websites, Supercook. It takes very little time to enter your ingredients into your free Supercook account. Then the website searches the Internet and tells you what recipes you can cook with your current ingredients. You can save recipes in your account, and come back for them later.
Anyhow, I had never considered making my own taco seasoning, but what a great idea! Supercook suggested this great recipe from Food.com. I made two batches of the seasoning, put it in plastic bags, and labeled it with directions for cooking. We’ve had it twice in the last week, and it’s as good as any store-bought mix. I love that it’s “free,” using ingredients I already have on hand!

I’m so glad to have found this posting! I like quite a few recipes that call for taco seasoning but the ones in the store have chemicals in them. I’m excited to try this out since I know exactly what’s in it and I have these ingredients on hand! Also, I recently discovered your site and have really been enjoying reading your old & new posts. I too have 2 young children and am a Christian, although I could improve in that area. Reading your posts is really reminding me about what the important things in life are and what the not. So important things are that we sometimes get too caught up with. You are very inspirational! Thank you!!
Thanks for reading! I love when I can find recipes with ingredients I already have in the house. It’s the encouragement of readers like you that keeps me writing! 🙂
