This morning I picked up my wallet and began glancing through the contents. I have the typical items in there like my (Nevada) driver’s license, (Maryland) library card, Chase debit card, Chase credit card, AAA card (with my name misspelled), and checkbook (with a California address). But noticing the pile of 16 (!) Gift Cards in my wallet, I decided to take stock of them.
From Greatest to Least:
- Target $50.00 + $40.00 + $20.00 = $110.00
- Visa Gift Card $73.81
- Massage Envy $70.00
- MasterCard Vanilla Gift Card $50.00
- Giant Gift Card $25.00
- McDonald’s Gift Cards 5 x $5.00 = $25.00
- Dunkin Donuts Gift Card for 6 Large Coffee/Teas $12.54 Value
- Coupon for $10 Off Walmart Pick-Up
- Starland Roller Rink Free Admission $5.00
- Ace Gift Card $3.59
- Home Depot Store Credit $3.51
- Free Redbox Code $1.75 Value
GRAND TOTAL: $390.20 Value!
Did you know that $3 billion in gift cards will go unused this year alone? So my challenge to you today is, go open your wallet (or wherever else you stash your gift cards) and put them in a pile. Call the number on the back and check your balance. Then add them up! It’s like the modern version of finding loose change under your couch cushions. And if you’re like me, it might be time to update a few other things too!
Enjoyed the post! We tend to stash ours in the kitchen hutch and forget their up there!
